Senior Data Scientist – COKI

Dr Julian Tonti-Filippini

Julian completed a PhD of Epigenomics at the University of Western Australia after graduating with first-class honours in genetics. He also holds a BSc in Informatics (UWA) and a BAppSc in Civil Aviation (UniSA).

Prior to joining the CIDS, he worked on information systems as the ecoinformatics manager at the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions; and at both the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence’s Plant Energy Biology Centre as a research fellow focusing on plastid bioinformatics and at their Computational Systems Biology Centre as a research assistant professor focusing on spatial transcriptomics.

Julian joined the CIDS in 2022, as a member of the Curtin Open Knowledge Initiative team to work on analysing and enhancing information flows between institutional and individual participants in the university ecosystem.
