Software Developer

Batbold Sangi

Batbold Sangi completed his Ph.D. in High Energy Physics from Purdue University, USA, in 2006. He was one of the key authors of two flagship analyses for the CLEO collaboration: the branching fraction measurement of four semileptonic modes and ten hadronic branching fraction measurements. While stationed at Cornell University, he took an active role in developing analysis tools and packages. He was responsible for managing a petabyte-scale, file-based distributed preprocessing system and preparing data for the entire collaboration. After completing his doctoral studies, Batbold obtained a postdoctoral fellowship at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) in 2006. He joined the D0 experiment, where he was responsible for calibrating the newly upgraded central fiber tracker and developing tools for the newly upgraded tracking system.

Upon returning to Mongolia, Batbold worked in the telecommunications, banking, and mining sectors as a consultant, data scientist, and software developer for over ten years. His work includes developing credit and behaviour scoring models for one of Mongolia’s largest banks, enhancing the anti-money laundering system, and building risk and marketing systems. In the mining sector, he developed an underground grade tracking/accounting system for one of the world’s largest copper mines. His contributions further extended to building geospatial applications and implementing data monitoring systems.

Batbold joined the CIDS in July 2024 as a software developer to work on the Gold Tech Group project.
