Parav Pathak
Parav holds a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from Punjab Technical University, India. He subsequently moved to Australia to pursue a Master of Predictive Analytics with a focus on data science.
Throughout his master’s program, Parav engaged in various projects that revolved around the analysis and modelling of extensive datasets, aimed at enhancing operational processes and creating business awareness. His internship at Mineral Resources provided him with practical experience in this realm.
In August 2023, Parav became a part of the CIDS team for his Capstone Project. Guided by the CIDS director, Prof. Melanie Johnston-Hollitt, this project centres on the prediction of active galactic nuclei in disc-hosting galaxies. Parav’s approach involves harnessing the NASA Extragalactic Database and conducting a cross-correlation analysis between novel radio galaxy surveys and pre-existing optical surveys, with the aim of discovering new insights.
His key competencies include:
•Machine Learning and Data Mining
•Data Analytics and Visualisation
•Analytical Planning
