Dr Sawitchaya (Nancy) Tippaya
Sawitchaya (Nancy) holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Curtin University and a DEng in Electrical and Information Engineering Technology from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi. She has a background in electronics and engineering, and experience working as a senior process/test engineering analyst, specifically in hardware design analysis using chip models and algorithms in the electronics manufacturing services industry.
Sawitchaya worked as a research associate in the School of Public Health at Curtin University. She collaborated with biostatisticians and epidemiologists to develop an antenatal prediction model that used various machine learning algorithms, applied with a comprehensive range of risk factors obtained from Data Linkage WA. She also worked with the Health Economics and Data Analytics team and the Department of Health (WA) to develop machine learning and natural language processing models to extract cancer staging data automatically.
Sawitchaya joined the CIDS in 2019 as a senior data scientist and is currently working on developing predictive modelling and machine learning applications using various data (e.g. sensor data, imagery and video data).
Her key competencies and research interests include:
• Computer Vision; Classification, Recognition and Implementation in IoT devices
• Data Analytics in Health and Sports
• Adaptive Signal Processing and Software Development in Advanced Circuit Design Analysis
