Overview
The Research Bazaar (ResBaz) is a global initiative dedicated to enhancing digital literacy and technical capability among researchers. It aims to empower researchers to develop the digital and computational skills central to modern scholarship, creating a culture of self-sufficiency and peer learning rather than reliance on external technical support.

From 2017 to 2022, the Curtin Institute for Data Science (CIDS) hosted the Perth edition of ResBaz, delivering multi-day programs that includes workshops, keynote presentations and collaborative sessions designed to strengthen digital research capacity across disciplines. Reflecting the spirit of a marketplace (bazaar) for ideas, the event brought together researchers from diverse academic backgrounds to exchange knowledge, share practical tools and explore emerging methodologies in areas such as programming, data analysis and open science.

ResBaz Perth attracted participants from all levels of the research community, with particular engagement from PhD candidates, research Masters students and early career researchers. Through this initiative, CIDS played a central role in advancing the digital research ecosystem in Western Australia to equip the next generation of scholars with the skills required for data-intensive and computational research.
