Training & Education

The Curtin Institute for Data Science is supporting partners from academia, industry, and government across various sectors such as, health sciences, astronomy, agriculture and aquaculture, manufacturing, transport with their data science, software development, and computational needs.

At present, the Institute would typically contribute to 30-40 research projects per annum, working with over 50 external organisations.

Space Elevate Workshop

Western Australia is home to a growing number of space start-ups, many of which face challenges in meeting national market standards, refining their value propositions and positioning themselves competitively in a fast-moving industry. The Space Elevate Workshop addressed these gaps through a two-day intensive workshop, guiding participants to identify their ideal customers, understand market needs, map the competitive landscape, test and refine value propositions, explore pathways to market, develop sustainable business models and craft clear, compelling pitches for their ideas and products.

The Carpentries Training

The Carpentries is a global organisation dedicated to teaching foundational coding and data science skills to researchers worldwide. In line with their mission, the Curtin Institute for Data Science delivers Data and Software Carpentries workshops offering hands-on, interactive training tailored to Curtin staff and students. These practical, collaborative sessions, led by CIDS data scientists, cover essential programming tools, using real-world examples.
