Product Manager – Persistent Identifier Services

Matthias Liffers

Matthias holds a Bachelor of Computer Science, a Diploma in Modern Languages (German), and a Master of Information Management.

After working for many years in research support and as a data librarian in several Australian universities and research institutes, Matthias joined the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) in 2019. He initially led its software skills program before developing the software container orchestration community and, most recently, becoming a research data informatics specialist.

Matthias joined the CIDS in 2024 through its partnership with the ARDC as a Product Manager (Persistent Identifier Services). He coordinates the delivery of the ARDC’s services that help the Australian research sector identify and track the inputs and outputs of research, including grants, datasets, software, and samples.

His key competencies and research interests include:

• Developing Metadata Profiles to Support Domain-specific Research
• Applying Persistent Identifiers to Software, Physical Samples, and Instruments
